Phil Bronner grew up in Baltimore as a self-described "snotty-nosed kid" and learned venture capital through an apprentice-style approach at a large fund starting in 1999, which he now uses to mentor emerging VCs and founders from non-traditional backgrounds. As a Black VC, he explicitly focuses on changing pattern recognition in venture by expanding deal networks beyond traditional circles, while investing through his lens of "the transformation of work"—specifically software that changes how teams operate with mixed human and AI workforces.
