About

Most media covers startups.
We cover the investors.

VC Beast is a publication focused on venture capital as an industry. Not the startups venture firms fund — the firms themselves. The partners, the strategies, the incentives, and the capital decisions that shape entire technology markets.

Most technology media treats venture capital as a supporting character. A source of funding. A line in a press release. VC Beast treats it as the central subject — a competitive industry worth analyzing on its own terms.

We study how venture firms are structured, how funds deploy capital, how investment theses evolve, and which investors are shaping the next decade of technology. Think of it as covering venture the way sports media covers teams: who is winning, who is losing, and what the strategy reveals.

What we cover

Venture Firm Strategy

How top firms construct their portfolios, define their thesis, and evolve their strategy across fund cycles.

Investor Profiles

The partners and emerging managers building influence in venture — their track record, philosophy, and decision-making.

Fund Structure & Incentives

How funds are structured, how carry works, and how the economics of venture capital shape investor behavior.

Capital Cycles & Market Dynamics

Where capital is flowing, which sectors are attracting attention, and what shifts in LP behavior signal about the market.

Analytical

We do not report what happened. We analyze what it means. Every piece answers a question: what does this signal about where venture capital is moving?

Opinionated

We have a point of view and we are not afraid to state it. The goal is not neutrality for its own sake — it is clarity, honesty, and useful interpretation.

Independent

No venture firm owns VC Beast. No fund is pulling editorial strings. The publication exists to analyze the industry, not to serve it.

Michael Kaufman, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of VC Beast

Founder

Michael Kaufman — Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Michael Kaufman is a serial entrepreneur who has spent 20 years building businesses and studying how capital flows through technology markets. He founded VC Beast to create the venture capital knowledge base he wished existed — a serious, analytical resource for the people who allocate capital, not just the people who raise it.

Before VC Beast, Michael scaled FamilyTime Centers, a bootstrapped outpatient mental health practice, from 4 employees to 45+. He is currently building Archstone, fund management software designed for emerging GPs who are launching their first funds.

VC Beast reflects Michael's belief that venture capital is an under-analyzed industry. Most technology media treats VCs as a footnote — a funding source mentioned in a press release. VC Beast treats them as the central subject: competitive firms with strategies, track records, and incentive structures worth understanding deeply.
