About Creditas

Creditas is a Brazilian consumer finance company built around secured credit: home equity loans, auto equity loans and payroll-deductible loans, with insurance and investment products added later. Spanish entrepreneur Sergio Furio founded it in São Paulo in April 2012 under the name BankFacil, and it rebranded as Creditas in 2017. Furio remains chief executive. The company targets Brazilian households that pay high rates on unsecured credit, using collateral to offer lower-cost loans.

The company raised a seed round of about R$1.5 million in 2013 from friends and financial market executives. A R$10 million Series A in 2015 came from Redpoint eVentures, Quona Capital and QED Investors, and Kaszek Ventures joined in a R$15 million extension in 2016. The International Finance Corporation led a R$60 million Series B in February 2017 with Naspers, and VEF led a R$165 million Series C in December 2017 alongside Amadeus Capital Partners, Santander InnoVentures and Endeavor Catalyst. SoftBank led a $231 million Series D in 2019. LGT Lightstone led a $255 million Series E in December 2020 at a $1.75 billion valuation, with Wellington Management and Advent participating. In January 2022 Fidelity Management & Research led a $260 million Series F at a $4.8 billion valuation, joined by SoftBank Vision Fund 1, SoftBank Latin America Fund, Kaszek, QED, VEF, Headline and others; TechCrunch put total funding at $829 million across six rounds at that point. In December 2025 Andbank Group led a $108 million Series G at a $3.3 billion valuation.

Creditas has grown by acquisition as well as lending. It bought Creditoo (payroll credit) in 2019, Minuto Seguros (insurance) and Bcredi (real estate credit) in 2021, and Kzas in 2022, and the Series G closed alongside the completion of its purchase of Andbank's Brazilian banking unit. In the third quarter of 2021 it reported $46.8 million of revenue, up 233 percent year over year, with a $532 million loan portfolio and more than 4,200 employees. It posted its first quarterly profit in the first quarter of 2024, and Portuguese Wikipedia cites an active credit portfolio of R$7.6 billion as of March 2026.

Creditas shows a full Latin American venture arc on one cap table: local and impact investors at Series A, a development bank and a strategic at Series B, then crossover and growth capital from SoftBank, Fidelity and Wellington. The December 2025 round priced 31 percent below the 2022 valuation, a down round that reflects the reset in fintech multiples after 2021. More than thirteen years after founding, the company has not gone public, so early backers such as QED and Kaszek remain without a public liquidity event.
