About Viz.ai

Viz.ai develops AI powered care coordination software for hospitals. Its algorithms analyze CT scans, ECGs and other data to flag suspected large vessel occlusion strokes and other time sensitive conditions, then notify specialists through a mobile app so treatment can start sooner. The company was founded in 2016 by neurosurgeon Dr. Chris Mansi, its CEO, and machine learning researcher Dr. David Golan, and is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Tel Aviv, Portugal and Amsterdam. It has expanded from stroke into cardiology, pulmonary embolism, aneurysm, oncology, radiology and trauma.

Terms of the company's seed, Series A and Series B rounds were not confirmed in the primary sources reviewed for this profile. On March 17, 2021 it announced a $71 million Series C led by Scale Venture Partners and Insight Partners, with Greenoaks, Kleiner Perkins, Threshold Ventures, CRV, Innovation Endeavors and Susa Ventures participating; the company said the round brought total funding to more than $150 million since inception. On April 7, 2022 it announced a $100 million Series D led by Tiger Global Management and Insight Partners at a $1.2 billion valuation, with Scale Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins, Threshold, GV, Sozo Ventures, CRV and Susa participating.

The company remains private. At the Series D it reported more than 1,000 hospitals and health systems using its platform and said headcount had grown from 180 to more than 350 in the prior year. In a July 28, 2026 release marking ten years, Viz.ai reported 2,000 hospitals, an estimated 230 million patients covered, 13 FDA clearances including first De Novo clearances for AI computer aided triage and ECG based cardiovascular software, more than 125 peer reviewed publications, and that it was the first company to receive CMS reimbursement for AI through the New Technology Add on Payment program.

Viz.ai illustrates the regulated AI path in digital health, where FDA clearance and Medicare reimbursement shape the commercial ramp. Its insiders kept investing: Kleiner Perkins and CRV participated in both the Series C and Series D, and Insight Partners co-led both. The company reached a $1.2 billion valuation about six years after founding, and no IPO or sale has been announced, so its investors have not yet had a disclosed liquidity event.
