Acton traces its investing back to 1999, when the team ran the venture arm of Hubert Burda Media, the German family-owned media group, before operating as an independent Munich manager. Its Heureka Growth Fund, also counted as Acton Fund III, closed at 150 million euros from international private and institutional investors.
Acton Fund V closed in November 2019 at $215 million, or 193 million euros, to back tech-enabled business models in Europe and North America. Acton VI closed in November 2023 at 225 million euros, the firm's largest, taking total capital raised to roughly one billion euros. Fund VI writes checks of three to ten million euros into companies entering early growth with proven business models and a credible path to sustainable scaling, across Europe and Canada.
