Moxxie Ventures

Moxxie Ventures is a San Francisco seed-stage venture firm founded by Katie Jacobs Stanton, an operator turned investor who led product, marketing and market development teams at Twitter, Google and Yahoo and served in the Obama administration before starting the firm. Its first fund was noticed to the Securities and Exchange Commission in July 2019, and the firm now manages roughly $100 million across its pre-seed and seed vehicles. Alex Roetter, formerly senior vice president of engineering at Twitter, is a general partner alongside Stanton.

Moxxie writes early institutional checks and is generally among the first investors on a cap table rather than a later-round follower. Its mandate is generalist within technology, spanning artificial intelligence, enterprise and infrastructure software, consumer products and fintech, and the firm states plainly that it is looking for unconventional companies other seed investors screen out. Published portfolio companies include Calm, Carta, Opendoor and Veho.

The firm's pitch to founders is operator judgment rather than platform scale: a small team of former engineering, product and communications leaders who have built and run the functions a seed company has to staff first, plus a network of company builders it draws on for hiring and go-to-market decisions. That positions Moxxie against both large multistage funds writing small seed checks and pure solo-GP vehicles, with a fund size intended to lead or co-lead a round and hold meaningful ownership through later financings.

For limited partners, the vehicle is an early-entry, high-dispersion seed strategy whose returns depend on a small number of outliers rather than broad portfolio markups.
