About Porsche Ventures
Porsche Ventures is the corporate venture capital unit of Porsche AG, the Stuttgart sports car maker. Porsche began its venture activity in 2016 under Lutz Meschke, deputy chairman and executive board member for finance and IT. In 2023 the unit was converted into an independent Luxembourg subsidiary, Porsche Investments Management S.A., and moved its operational headquarters to Luxembourg to speed up decisions and structuring. The team page shows staff in Luxembourg, Berlin, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv.
The unit describes itself as an early-stage investor in founders building frontier technology for the industrial sector, organized around mobility, industrial technology and energy transition. Earlier strategy statements named car and mobility, intelligent enterprise, sustainability and a category called beyond. Portfolio companies on its site include 1KOMMA5, Chemix, Cylib, Bcomp, BlackSemi, Atomic Industries, Cresta, Zededa, TriEye, Bumper and South 8. Porsche also reported holdings in Rimac Group, Group14 and HIF Global. Its newest holdings include battery, materials and industrial software companies.
Porsche measures the program by strategic value as well as returns. Meschke has said the most important thing is strategic added value for Porsche. The portfolio has produced exits including the IPO of Via, the acquisition of Nozomi Networks and an exit from Vaha. Porsche reported in 2024 that it had invested about EUR 300 million in 50 startups since 2016, with an investment book value just under EUR 400 million and five investments sold. Porsche also backs outside funds such as e.ventures, Magma and Grove and its own company builder, Forward31.
Investment Thesis
“Porsche Ventures says it fuels founders building frontier technology for the industrial sector. Its current site groups this into three areas: mobility, meaning innovators in movement and transport; industrial technology, meaning hardware and software for enterprises; and energy transition, meaning companies working on decarbonization. Its 2018 framing centered on customer experience, mobility and digital lifestyle plus technologies such as AI, blockchain and augmented reality, and the 2024 strategy named car and mobility, intelligent enterprise, sustainability and beyond. Across versions, Porsche says investments must give it access to trends, new technologies and business models and add strategic value to the carmaker.”
