About Samsung Ventures
Samsung Ventures is the brand of Samsung Venture Investment Corporation (SVIC), a Samsung Group corporate venture capital firm founded in 1999 and headquartered in the Samsung Electronics building in Seocho-gu, Seoul. It is separate from Samsung NEXT and the Samsung Catalyst Fund. Its funds are mostly backed by Samsung Electronics. In July 2026, Samsung Electronics' board approved KRW 495.0 billion for SVIC 82, a KRW 500 billion partnership for semiconductor startups, and KRW 297.0 billion for SVIC 83, a KRW 300 billion partnership for the DX (Device eXperience) division. SVIC put in the remaining 1 percent of each as general partner.
The firm calls itself a technology-driven CVC. It invests in eight domains: AI, robotics, device solutions, bio and health, energy, security and privacy, IT and enterprise, and consumer and devices. Beyond Seoul it has offices in Silicon Valley (opened 2004), London (2010), Beijing and Israel (2014), India (2017) and Shanghai (2021). Its current portfolio page lists AI model developers such as Mistral AI and World Labs, AI chip companies such as Rebellions, d-Matrix and MangoBoost, processor IP company SiFive, and humanoid robot maker Figure. It also lists energy and materials companies including Svante Technologies, Niron Magnetics and CarbonCure Technologies.
Its scale and its connection to Samsung's operating divisions set it apart. The firm reports $2.8 billion in assets under management across 75 funds, 44 of them active, and investments in 1,188 companies since 1999. Because SVIC 82 and SVIC 83 are tied to the semiconductor and DX businesses, deals are expected to support technology and business collaboration with Samsung Electronics. Exited holdings on the portfolio page include SentinelOne, Darktrace, Dig Security and GoTo.
Investment Thesis
“Samsung Ventures describes its mission as driving growth and creating new value through technological innovation, acting as a technology-driven CVC for the Samsung group. Its thesis is organized around eight domains: AI, robotics, device solutions, bio and health, energy, security and privacy, IT and enterprise, and consumer and devices. The newest partnerships make the strategic link explicit. SVIC 82 is meant to build technology and business collaboration with Samsung Electronics through equity stakes in Korean and overseas semiconductor startups. SVIC 83 is meant to find and secure technologies that strengthen the competitiveness of Samsung's DX division. Recent additions to the portfolio, including AI model labs, AI accelerator chip designers and industrial energy technology, reflect those priorities.”
