About Addepar

Addepar provides software that aggregates, analyzes and reports on investment portfolios for registered investment advisors, family offices, private banks, fund managers and institutional allocators, with particular depth in alternative assets. It was founded in 2009 by Joe Lonsdale, a co-founder of Palantir, and Jason Mirra, another Palantir employee. Eric Poirier, also previously at Palantir, became chief executive in 2013, and Lonsdale remains chairman. Wikipedia lists the company's headquarters as New York City; the company also has offices in Silicon Valley, Salt Lake City, Chicago, London, Edinburgh, Pune and Dubai.

Addepar raised a $140 million round from Valor Equity Partners in 2017. Around October 2020 it raised a $117 million Series E at a valuation of roughly $1.085 billion. In June 2021 D1 Capital Partners provided a $150 million Series F at a $2.17 billion valuation, and RIABiz reported that total private equity raised exceeded $472.8 million after that round. On May 13, 2025, Addepar announced a $230 million Series G at a $3.25 billion valuation, co-led by Vitruvian Partners and returning investor WestCap, with participation from 8VC, Valor Equity Partners and EDBI. The company said the proceeds would primarily fund a tender offer providing liquidity to employees and investors.

Addepar remains private. At the time of the Series G it reported $7 trillion in assets on its platform, up from $5 trillion a year earlier, more than 1,200 client firms in over 50 countries, more than $100 million in annual R&D spending and a path to profitability in 2025. Its current site cites more than $9 trillion in assets across more than 1,500 clients in more than 60 countries. It has made small acquisitions, including AltX in 2017 and the AI workflow startup Arcus in 2025, and it partners with firms such as Morgan Stanley and HSBC UK Private Banking.

Addepar is a long-duration venture story. Sixteen years after founding, the company still has not listed, and its largest recent financing was used mainly for secondary liquidity rather than new operating capital, a common route for mature private companies. 8VC, the firm Lonsdale later founded, participated in the 2025 round. The step from a roughly $1.1 billion valuation in 2020 to $3.25 billion in 2025 came while platform assets more than doubled, which ties the company's valuation to the growth in assets it reports on.
