About Renny McPherson
Renny McPherson founded First In in 2020 and is the firm's Managing Partner, backing entrepreneurs building security technology across cybersecurity, space systems, advanced manufacturing, AI, communications and networking, strategic systems, and unmanned systems. He has led and participated in dozens of seed-stage and venture growth-stage financings for First In and, earlier, as an angel investor, including leading the firm's investment in the Series A financing of SCATR, which fragments, encrypts, and routes data in transit. McPherson co-founded the security technology company RedOwl Analytics in 2012; Forcepoint, then part of Raytheon, acquired RedOwl in 2017. He began his career as a US Marine Corps intelligence officer, serving in Iraq and East Asia, then worked on national security and intelligence policy at RAND. He is a graduate of Harvard College, cum laude, and Harvard Business School, and hosts The Green Door podcast.
