11 venture capital firms headquartered in India. Browse investor profiles, investment stages, sector focus and check sizes.
India's venture market is best read as two benches rather than one. The first is the India and Southeast Asia arms of global firms, which operate here with their own teams and their own decisions: Sequoia Capital India/SEA, now running independently as Peak XV Partners, alongside Lightspeed India Partners, General Catalyst India and Norwest India. The second is the India-native funds, led by Kalaari Capital, 3one4 Capital, Better Capital, Arkam Ventures, iSeed and Info Edge Ventures, plus Matrix Partners India, which rebranded as Z47. Knowing which bench a firm sits on tells you more about how it will behave in a process than its assets under management does.
The geography inside the country is not interchangeable either. The directory's Indian firms are headquartered in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi, and those three clusters have genuinely different centres of gravity: Bengaluru carries the deepest concentration of engineering talent and the largest share of the funds on this page, Mumbai sits closest to financial services and the domestic capital base, and Delhi covers consumer, marketplace and education businesses selling into the north. A fund's home city is a reasonable proxy for the rooms it can get you into.
Stage coverage is unusually early. Most firms listed here include pre-seed, seed or Series A in their stage focus, and several of the domestic funds write the first institutional cheque rather than following one. Better Capital and iSeed both work at that end. The later-stage bench is thinner, which is the practical constraint for a company mapping a full financing path: Series B and growth rounds are more likely to involve a global crossover investor than a fund on this list.
Sector focus clusters around fintech, consumer, marketplaces, enterprise software and education, which is what you would expect in a market where payments infrastructure and low-cost distribution reshaped several categories at once. The discipline shift after 2022 shows up in how these firms talk about diligence rather than in their sector tags: unit economics and capital efficiency now sit ahead of growth rate in most stated theses.
Read the list by stage first, then by bench. A global arm and a domestic seed fund can both say they lead Series A rounds and mean very different things by it. Each profile below carries stage focus, sector focus, check size where the firm discloses it, and the investors who work there.

The right firm depends on your stage and sector rather than on fund size. Every profile on this page lists stage focus, sector focus and check size where the firm discloses it, so the practical approach is to filter to the stage you are raising and then read the sector focus and portfolio.
Not usually. Most firms headquartered in India invest across their wider region, and several invest globally. Being local still helps with warm introductions and with access to the firm's portfolio network.
