Fund History
Index was founded in Geneva in 1996 by Neil Rimer, David Rimer and Giuseppe Zocco, and has run parallel early-stage and growth vehicles for most of its history. It raised a $577 million late-stage growth fund in January 2008. In July 2018 it announced $1.65 billion across two funds, $1 billion for growth and $650 million for early-stage companies.
In July 2024 the firm announced $2.3 billion, comprising Index Ventures XII at $800 million, its twelfth venture fund, and a seventh growth fund at $1.5 billion; the venture vehicle came in $100 million below its predecessor. In July 2026, marking thirty years, Index announced $3.5 billion of total investing capital across a $400 million seed fund, a $900 million venture fund and a growth fund expanded to $2.2 billion by a $700 million top-up. That raise followed the sale of cloud security company Wiz, reported to have returned roughly $3.8 billion to the firm. Reported assets under management sit near 11.7 billion euros.
