Kibo Ventures

Kibo Ventures was co-founded in August 2012 by Aquilino Peña and Javier Torremocha, who remain managing partners, with José María Amusátegui, still a partner. Sonia Fernández joined as a partner in March 2016 and Jordi Vidal in March 2017. Valeria Loewe has been chief operating officer and partner since February 2016, and Juan López, with the firm since February 2013, is a partner at Kibo Ventures and managing director of Kibo Nzyme. Joaquín Rebuelta has served as operating partner since April 2014 and Covadonga García-Valdés is a principal. Sunir Kapoor became non-executive chairman in October 2025.

The Kibo Nzyme private equity arm is led by co-founders and managing partners Fernando Díaz Solís, who joined in September 2022, Vicente Vázquez, October 2022, and Jose Manuel Gasalla, January 2025, with Pablo Campos, chairman of Oliver Wyman in Spain and Portugal, as a Nzyme co-founder and investment committee member.

Kibo Ventures was founded in Madrid in August 2012 and has grown from a 43 million euro debut fund to more than 500 million euros raised across six funds, split between two strategies: the Kibo Ventures venture capital business and Kibo Nzyme, a private equity arm launched in 2022. The firm reports 81 portfolio companies and 22 exits, including one Nasdaq listing and trade sales to Apple, Airbnb, CrowdStrike and PayPal.

The venture book includes Glovo, Cabify, Job&Talent, Ontruck, Devo, Onum, CoverWallet, Flywire, Mitiga, Vilynx and Cala. Job&Talent is among its earliest positions, where Kibo was the first institutional investor and has stayed active for more than a decade. The platform employs 25 professionals. Individual fund sizes beyond the 43 million euro first vehicle are not published, and the firm discloses no assets-under-management figure. Kibo Nzyme extends the mandate into control and growth equity in Spanish mid-market businesses with its own investment and value-creation team.
