Spero Ventures

Spero Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco that invests in what it calls the things that make life worth living: work and livelihood, health and wellbeing, and human connection. The firm was established in 2017 and its investment team is led by general partners Shripriya Mahesh, Andrew Parker and Sara Eshelman, all three listed as general partners on the firm's own team page. It invests at seed and Series A and works with a small number of companies at a time rather than building a large index of positions.

The portfolio the firm publishes spans energy infrastructure software, robotics, consumer health and commerce. Named holdings include Euclid Power, which builds data and workflow software for renewable energy project development; Huckleberry Labs, a parenting and child-sleep application; Corvus Robotics, which flies autonomous drones for warehouse inventory counting; Telo Trucks, a compact electric pickup maker; Hyro, a conversational AI platform used heavily in healthcare; Tiny Health, an infant and family gut-microbiome testing service; TalkShopLive, a live video shopping network; and Wattch, a monitoring platform for renewable energy assets.

Spero's positioning is thesis-led rather than sector-agnostic. Its partners publish the specific human problems they want to fund and prefer companies whose commercial case and social case point the same direction, which is why the book mixes climate and energy tooling with family health and creator commerce. The firm commonly leads or co-leads the rounds it joins and continues to participate as companies raise later financings. It is headquartered in San Francisco and operates as a single-office partnership.
