About Angelini Ventures

Angelini Ventures is the corporate venture capital firm of Angelini Industries, the Italian multi-sector industrial group whose businesses include Angelini Pharma. Angelini Industries launched it in October 2022 with a €300 million capital commitment, headquartered in Rome, and it operates as Angelini Ventures S.p.A., wholly owned by Angelini Holding. At launch the group said it had already invested €60 million, including in the Paris biotech venture studio Argobio, the Angelini Lumira Biosciences Fund and Pretzel Therapeutics. The firm says it operates with the independence and speed of an independent VC while drawing on Angelini Industries for synergies.

The firm invests in BioTech and HealthTech. In biotech it backs companies from drug discovery through clinical-stage assets, and in healthtech it backs medical devices, hybrid and digital care platforms, and digitally enabled treatments and diagnostics. Its approach page says it invests primarily in Series A and Series B rounds across Europe and North America; it has also joined seed rounds and later financings, such as Aptadir Therapeutics' €40 million seed and Epicrispr Biotechnologies' $90 million Series C in 2026. Earlier focus statements emphasized central nervous system disorders and vulnerable populations including women, children and the elderly.

A distinctive feature is its co-investment agreement with the European Investment Bank, launched in December 2025, in which each party committed €75 million to co-invest in seven to ten European biotech, medtech and digital health startups over six years. Angelini describes it as the first such agreement between the EIB and a corporate VC in healthcare. By September 2026 it had funded ADCytherix, Nuclidium and Medical Microinstruments (MMI). The firm is also a partner in Extend, an Italian translational partnership with Evotec and CDP Venture Capital, and in 2025 co-led rounds in Neumirna Therapeutics and Nobi Smart Lights.

Investment Thesis

“Angelini Ventures describes itself as a patient-centric investor: every company it backs must be able to explain how its solution changes outcomes for a defined patient population. From there it assesses differentiated science aimed at genuine unmet need (first-in-class or best-in-class with a credible path to validation), teams combining scientific or clinical authority with commercial capability, large or growing markets with understood regulatory and reimbursement pathways, and, depending on the company, pipeline, IP and clinical data or evidence of clinical utility and commercial traction. Its stated mission is to use technology to improve healthcare, reshape patient journeys and address unmet needs in vulnerable populations.”
